Synchro Skating Technical Specialist Practice Test

When the Axle Base Reduction (ABR) begins after the lines of the synchro skating formations overlap, the appropriate consequence is to lower the performance index (pi) one level. This is because starting the ABR after the lines have intersected indicates that the skaters did not maintain proper formation timing or positioning, which can negatively impact the clarity and intended visual effect of the maneuver.

Lowering the pi reflects the judges' assessment of how the execution deviated from the expected performance standards. It also emphasizes the importance of synchronization and the precise execution of elements within the routine. Proper timing is critical in synchronized skating, and deviations such as this can alter the effectiveness of the program.

In this context, the other choices do not apply because they propose outcomes that do not align with the established rules for assessing performance in synchro skating engagements concerning timing and execution. Thus, the consequence of lowering the performance index appropriately encapsulates the disruption caused by the overlap occurring before the commencement of the ABR.
